Recently I packed up the remaining kids’ toys from my 17-year-old son’s room. Another stage in his childhood is over. I was simply going to donate them to a good cause when I got thinking about grandkids. Wouldn’t it be great to have a bin of toys for all ages ready to go? So instead I selected some of the most loved, most versatile, and most treasured toys and created a Grandma’s Bin.
This is not permission to hang on to everything your child ever played with! Think about creating only one bin of toys your grandchildren will enjoy when they come to visit. A few pointers: make sure the bin is made of plastic if it is stored in the basement or garage, wipe down all the toys so they are clean before storing, and include books and games.
As your child out grows their toys, consider starting your bin earlier than I did. It can come in handy for friend’s children and other visitors too!
